Customer Case Study · Factory Build
When a specialty coffee roaster project in Oman came to our factory, the brief was more than “we need a 6 kg machine.” The founders were launching a boutique roastery in the Gulf and wanted a single, coordinated line: a roaster in their own brand color, running on LPG for the local gas supply, plus the packaging equipment to bag and seal retail coffee in-house. This is the story of how we built and shipped that custom YS-06 line — and what other buyers in Oman, Saudi Arabia, and the wider Gulf can take from it.
(This case study is anonymized; we do not publish client names or logos.)
The Brief: One Brand, One Line, One Supplier
The client was a new roastery serving cafes and retail customers around Muscat. They had three requirements that pushed them toward a factory-direct build rather than an off-the-shelf import:
- Brand identity from day one. They wanted the roaster in a custom white finish with their own logo — not a generic machine they would re-badge later.
- LPG, not natural gas. Reliable natural-gas mains were not available at their unit, so the burner had to be configured for bottled LPG from the factory, with the correct jets and regulator for Gulf gas pressure.
- Retail packaging in-house. They planned to sell bagged coffee, so they needed a filling machine and a bag sealer that matched their throughput — bought and shipped together with the roaster so everything arrived as one commissioned line.
Why the YS-06
We recommended the 6 kg YS-06 from our Giesen-style YS Series. At 6 kg batch capacity it is the sweet spot for a launching roastery: large enough to supply several wholesale cafe accounts and a retail line, small enough to dial in single origins and keep green inventory manageable. The YS Series runs Siemens PLC control, which gave the client repeatable profiles and Artisan-software logging from their first week of production.
| Line component | What we supplied | Customization |
|---|---|---|
| Roaster | YS-06, 6 kg batch, Siemens PLC | Custom white body + client logo; LPG burner |
| Green feeding | Green-bean loader | Sized to charge-door height |
| Filling | Coffee filling machine | Matched to retail bag size |
| Sealing | Bag sealing machine | Foil/valve bag compatible |
Customizing for the Gulf
Color & logo
The client’s white finish was applied at the factory, with their logo on the front panel. Custom color and logo add lead time but no import hassle — the machine clears customs already branded. This is the same OEM path many of our Gulf and Latin American clients take.
LPG configuration
We set the burner, jets, and regulator for bottled LPG at Gulf supply pressure and documented the gas connection so a local technician could hook up safely. Switching a roaster between natural gas and LPG is not just a hose change — the orifices differ, which is why we configure it before shipping.
Voltage & power
The control system and motors were set for the local voltage and frequency. We confirm this on every order so nothing needs a converter on arrival.
Packaging match
Because the filling and sealing machines were specified alongside the roaster, bag size, fill weight, and seal type were matched to the client’s retail plan — no mismatched second-hand gear cobbled together after launch.
Shipping & Commissioning to Oman
The complete line shipped by sea to a Gulf port as one consolidated order, which kept freight and paperwork simple — one packing list, one set of documents for customs. We supplied installation drawings, the LPG connection guide, and remote commissioning support so the client’s local technician could position the roaster, connect gas and power, and run the first test batch. For buyers weighing the logistics, our regional guide to coffee roasters for Saudi Arabia and the Gulf covers shipping, gas, and support across the region, and our complete roastery equipment guide shows how the pieces fit together.
What Gulf Buyers Can Take From This
- Buy the line, not just the machine. Sourcing the roaster, loader, and packaging from one factory means matched voltage, matched gas config, one shipment, and one point of contact for spares.
- Specify LPG up front. If your site runs on bottled gas, tell us at the quote stage so the burner ships correctly configured — don’t plan to convert it locally.
- Custom color and logo are worth the lead time. A branded machine builds your identity from launch and clears customs already finished.
- 6 kg is a strong launch size for a roastery supplying cafes plus a retail line. Scale up later; our range runs from sample roasters to 300 kg+.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can you configure a coffee roaster for LPG in the Gulf?
Yes. We set the burner jets and regulator for bottled LPG at Gulf supply pressure before the machine ships, and provide a gas-connection guide for your local technician. Switching between natural gas and LPG changes the orifices, so we configure it at the factory rather than leaving it as a local conversion.
Can I get a roaster in my own color with my logo?
Yes. Custom body color and your logo are applied at our factory before shipping, so the machine arrives already branded. This adds some lead time but avoids any local re-finishing, and it works for single units, not just large orders.
Can you supply the roaster and packaging machines together?
Yes, and we recommend it. Buying the roaster, green-bean loader, filling machine, and bag sealer as one line means the components are matched and ship as a single consolidated order, simplifying freight and customs and giving you one supplier for support and spares.
Is a 6 kg roaster big enough to launch a roastery?
For most launching roasteries, yes. A 6 kg batch machine can supply several wholesale cafe accounts plus a retail line while keeping profiles easy to dial in and green inventory manageable. You can scale to a larger machine later as volume grows.
