What is the difference between an SD manual model and an SD Pro?
Same cast-iron drum and body. The manual SD-1.5KG / SD-3KG use a button panel and gas valve — you drive the roast. SD Pro adds the PLC touch screen with the Yoshan automatic roast-curve system: record a profile, replay it, switch to manual any time. On 1.5–12 kg Pro models the hopper and drop door are still operated by hand; pneumatic discharge starts at SD-20 Pro. Overview: fully automatic roasters.
Why a double-walled cast-iron drum?
Cast iron stores heat, so the drum temperature does not collapse when a cold batch drops in, and the double wall keeps the bean-side surface from scorching. It is heavier and costs more to cast than a rolled stainless drum, which is why it is the flagship series. See why we cast our drums in iron.
Which SD Pro models include a loader?
SD-6 Pro, SD-12 Pro and SD-15 Pro are priced as a set with their loader (ask for the price without it); SD-20 Pro adds a destoner; SD-30, SD-60 and SD-120 Pro are complete plants with afterburner. Which extras you actually need: destoner, loader or afterburner?
How fast does an SD Pro cool and discharge?
Cooling is calibrated to 2 minutes for specialty coffee and 2.5 minutes for blends on shop models (3–5 minutes on 15 kg and above), and the batch drops in a 13-second window. Fast, timed cooling is what stops the roast where the profile ends — see cooling and quenching.
Can I get an SD roaster in electric?
SD-3KG: electric heating-tube version, 220 V or 380 V three-phase, USD 4,899, 40–60 day lead time, or electric full hot-air at USD 6,199. SD-1.5KG: electric heating-tube build at the same price as gas on 380 V three-phase. SD-1.5 Pro and SD-6 Pro: electric full hot-air at the same price as gas; SD-3 Pro electric full hot-air USD 11,209; all on 380 V three-phase. SD-12 Pro and larger are gas only. What colours and finishes are available on SD?
Red, yellow, blue, green, black and silver on the SD-100G Plus; red, black, white, blue, green or a custom colour on production models. The SD-1.5 Pro drum has a gold-plated finish and the SD-3 Pro drum housing can be stainless, gold or rose gold. Colour is chosen at order — see powder coating and colour options.
