Before most buyers place an order, they ask two things: “Can I see a video of the machine?” and “Can I visit the factory?” It’s the most common request we get — buyers want to see where their roaster is actually built before they wire a deposit halfway around the world. This is a fair question, and this page is our answer. Here is how a Yoshan coffee roaster is built, from raw steel to the pre-shipment test roast, inside a factory that has been manufacturing commercial roasters since 1990.
Our Story: Building Coffee Roasters Since 1990
We are not a trading company that resells other people’s machines — we are the factory. Yoshan has manufactured commercial coffee roasting equipment since 1990, and over three decades we have shipped roasters to cafés, roasteries and production plants across the Philippines, Latin America, the Gulf, East Africa, Europe and beyond. That longevity matters for one practical reason: a roaster is a 15–20 year investment, and you want the company that built it to still be here — with parts, drawings and support — a decade from now.
How Our Coffee Roasters Are Built, Step by Step
Every machine that leaves our floor goes through the same sequence. Nothing is outsourced blind.
| Stage | What happens |
|---|---|
| 1. Drum & body fabrication | Roasting drums and frames are cut, rolled and welded in-house from heavy-gauge steel. The drum is the heart of even, repeatable roasting. |
| 2. Burner & gas train | Gas or electric heating systems are fitted and configured for the customer’s fuel — LPG, natural gas or electric — and destination. |
| 3. Controls & automation | Siemens PLC control and instrumentation are installed and wired to the correct voltage and phase for the buyer’s country. |
| 4. Assembly & finishing | Drum, cooling tray, chaff cyclone and body are assembled; custom colour and logo are applied for OEM orders. |
| 5. Test roast & QC | Every machine is run and test-roasted before it ships. We check heat curves, motor operation, airflow and controls. |
| 6. Pre-shipment video | We film the finished, running machine and send you the video before it leaves — so you see your exact roaster working. |
The Siemens PLC control in stage 3 is a deliberate choice: it gives repeatable, programmable roast profiles and the reliability a production roastery needs. It’s the same automation standard our buyers scaling up ask for — more on that in our guide to choosing a commercial coffee roaster.
The Roaster Lines We Build
One factory, four product families, so we can match almost any capacity and style:
- SD series — Probat-style drum roasters from sample size up to 300 kg. If you’re comparing against a European benchmark, see our Probat alternative overview.
- YS series — Giesen-style roasters with Siemens control, 6–300 kg. Compared in our Giesen alternative guide.
- DY series — classic 1–2 kg shop and micro-roastery machines.
- EC-500G — electric sample roaster for cupping labs and profile development.
See the Factory: Video & Visits
Because so many buyers ask to “see it first,” we make that easy in three ways:
- Product & line videos on request — real machines running, not renders.
- A pre-shipment video of your specific machine before it ships, as standard.
- Factory visits — you’re welcome to come and see production in person; we help arrange the logistics.
This is the same transparency our buyers value when they’re weighing a big-ticket purchase from overseas — and it’s why so many, like the roastery in Oman we built a custom line for, become repeat customers. Read that custom YS-06 case study for a real example.
Certifications & Quality
Our roasters are built to international standards, with CE certification available for European buyers who require it — a point we cover in detail in our CE certified coffee roaster guide. Every machine carries a 1-year full-machine warranty, and because we manufacture in-house, we stock the parts and hold the drawings for the machines we build.
FAQ
Can I visit the Yoshan factory before ordering?
Yes. Buyers are welcome to visit and see production in person, and we help arrange the logistics of a visit. If you can’t travel, we send product videos on request and a pre-shipment video of your specific machine before it ships.
Do you send a video of the actual machine before shipping?
Yes — a pre-shipment video of your finished, running machine is standard. You see your exact roaster working before it leaves the factory.
How long has Yoshan been making coffee roasters?
Since 1990. We are the manufacturer, not a trading company, and have shipped commercial roasters worldwide for over three decades — which means parts, drawings and support stay available for the life of your machine.
Are you a factory or a trading company?
We are the factory. Drum and body fabrication, controls installation, assembly and test roasting all happen in-house, which is what lets us offer OEM customisation, stock spare parts and stand behind a full-machine warranty.
Can you customise the roaster with our logo and colour?
Yes. Because we build in-house, OEM logo, colour and voltage options are applied during assembly. Tell us your branding and destination when you request a quote.
