After price, the thing buyers ask us about most is shipping — and inside “shipping”, the fear is simple: a machine that weighs several hundred kilograms, six weeks at sea, and a forklift at the other end. The packing is what stands between the machine you inspected on video and the machine you unbox. This page shows what that packing is.
Where this step sits
Packing happens after final QC and the video inspection, and before container loading. Nothing is packed until it has been inspected, filmed and signed off.
How a roaster is packed
1. Protective film. The finished machine is wrapped in plastic film. This keeps dust, moisture and handling marks off the powder coat and stainless during loading and transit, and it keeps the accessory kit and loose items from moving.
2. Wooden case. The wrapped machine is fixed to a wooden base and enclosed in a wooden case built for that model — not a generic crate. Cases are sized to the machine with clearance for padding, and the base is built to be lifted by forklift or pallet jack from the long side.
3. Fixing inside the case. The machine is secured to the base so it cannot shift. Loose components that ship with the machine — cyclone, hopper, cooling tray parts on larger models — are wrapped separately and fixed inside the same case or a second case, listed on the packing list.
4. ISPM-15 treatment. Solid wood packaging for export must be heat-treated or fumigated to the international ISPM-15 standard and stamped with the treatment mark. Our cases carry that mark. Without it, customs in most countries will hold the shipment, require re-treatment, or destroy the packaging.
5. Marking. The case is marked with the consignee, the order reference, the gross weight and dimensions, and handling marks.
Crate sizes and weights by model
Case dimensions and gross weights are published on our spec sheets so you and your forwarder can plan before the machine is built. One example from the SD series:
| Model | Machine size (W×D×H) | Packed case (W×D×H) | Net weight | Gross weight |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| SD-1.5 | 1350 × 800 × 1150 mm | 1300 × 490 × 960 mm | 130 kg | approx. 180 kg |
Larger machines ship the cyclone, hopper and on some models the cooling tray as separately packed items, so the main case can be smaller than the assembled machine. Ask for the spec sheet for your model and you will have the figures for freight quotes and for checking the crate on arrival.
What this means for you
- The machine arrives as inspected. Film, fixing and a fitted case are what stop the most common transit damage: scratched panels, a bent cooling arm, a shifted drum.
- Your customs does not stop the crate for the wood. The ISPM-15 mark is checked at almost every port.
- You can plan the unloading. Knowing the case size and gross weight from the spec sheet tells your forwarder what truck and what forklift to book, and tells you whether it fits through your door.
What customers say
“Arrived in 14 days in a very solid plywood crate… no damage what so ever. The roaster was 95% assembled,” wrote a buyer in the USA in 2022. A customer in Chile noted the machine came in “the original wooden crate from the brand”. “Great packaging” is one of the three most-chosen tags in our 572 store reviews.
How to verify this on any roaster
Before you pay the balance, ask for photos of your crated machine: the case from the outside with the ISPM-15 stamp visible, and the machine inside the case before it is closed. A factory that packs properly has these photos for every shipment, because they are also its own proof against transit claims.
Frequently asked questions
Can you ship in plywood instead of solid wood to avoid fumigation?
Plywood and other processed wood are exempt from ISPM-15 and we can build cases from them on request. For heavy machines we prefer treated solid wood for strength, but tell us if your destination has specific requirements.
What if the machine is damaged in transit?
Photograph the case before opening and the damage before moving the machine, and tell us and your forwarder within the time your insurance requires. Our crate photos taken before closing establish the machine’s condition at dispatch, which is what a claim needs.
Will you send photos of the crate before shipping?
Yes. Crate photos — outside with marks and stamp, inside before closing — are sent with the shipping documents.
Does the case fit through a standard door?
It depends on the model. Small machines such as the SD-1.5 (case 490 mm deep on its narrow side) pass through a standard doorway on the base; larger machines are usually uncrated outside and moved in on the base. Check the case dimensions on your spec sheet against your access route before the crate arrives.
Final thoughts
Good packing is invisible when it works: the crate opens and the machine is exactly as it was on the video call. We build the case for the machine, treat the wood to ISPM-15, and photograph it before it closes. Next: how the crate is loaded into the container, and the shipping documents that travel with it. For the freight side — sea versus air, lead times, customs — see our shipping from China guide, or return to the full build sequence.
Tell us your country, voltage, gas type and kilograms per week — we will send the matching spec sheet with case dimensions and gross weight for freight quotes. Request the spec sheet · WhatsApp: +86 184 0771 4607
